The Gauntlet is a solo Minigame / Boss combination, based in prifiddinas, The gauntlet consists of two difficulties, Regular and Corrupted,
The Gauntlet can be found by entering the Gauntlet Portal, found in the PvM section of the Nexus.
Players cannot bring any items into The Gauntlet; when entering the minigame, all items currently on the player will be automatically stored for its duration. It is a dangerous minigame, so hardcore ironmen will lose their hardcore status, should they die in The Gauntlet.
The area contains resource nodes, herbs and fish obtainable through Mining, Woodcutting, Fishing and other gathering methods, in order to make weapons, armour, potions and food. These various resources do not require a specific skill level to gather. The dungeon will also contain various crystalline monsters, such as bats, unicorns and dark beasts, which can be killed for further supplies. Higher level monsters will offer better drops at the cost of taking more time to defeat.
Completion of The Gauntlet will reward players with various loot, including crystal armour seeds for crystal armour, as well as Enhanced crystal weapon seeds for the Blade of Saeldor or the Bow of Faerdhinen and the crystal shards required to charge the items. Failing to finish, either by death or leaving early, will give a small token reward based upon how well the player performed, but will not grant any chance of unique items.
Basic Overview
The player will spawn in the starting room of a 7x7 grid of rooms, adjacent to the centre of the room that contains one of the Hunllef's variants, depending on which gauntlet you're inside. The player has 10 minutes to prep, (7.5 if inside corrupted) which is indicated by a timer in the upper right corner, If the timer runs out, the player will automatically teleported within the boss room. Alternatively the player can choose to enter the room themselves, by entering through the barrier.
The player will have to prepare for the battle with the Hunllef by collecting a multitude of resources, to create items to assist them, including Halberds, staves and bows, and also armour, with food and potions, which will restore run energy and prayer points, scaling off the players stats.
Resource Rooms
Each Room within the gauntlet that isn't the starting room, has the potential to contain a multitude of resource nodes or monsters, these resources can be collected and then taken back to the starting room and used on the singing bowl to create a multitude of items.
Resource Nodes
- Crystal Deposit: Used to mine Crystal Ore, Creates armour.
- Linum Tirinum: Used to pick Linum Tirinum, Creates Armour.
- Phren Roots: Used to chop Phren Bark, Creates Armour.
- Grym Root: Used to Pick Grym Leaf, Creates Egniol Potion.
- Fishing Spot: Used to Fish Raw Paddlefish.
Monsters
- Weak Monsters: Spiders (Level 22|32) Rats (Level 24|34) Bats (Level 33|43)
- Strong Monsters: Unicorns (Level 48|64) Scorpions (Level 64|89) Wolves (Level 74|102)
- Demi-Bosses: Bears - Spike (Level 172|258) Dragons - Orb (Level 172|258) Dark Beasts - Bow String (Level 172|258)
Armour And Weaponry
After going through the gauntlet and collecting all the necessary resources, return back to the starter room and head over to the singing bowl to create armour and weapons. You will require atleast 2 types of weapons as the Hunllef uses protection prayers. It is recommended to create some armour to mitigate some of the Hunllef's incoming damage.
Weapons
There are three types of weapons: Bows, Halberds And staves. The weapons can come in three tiers; basic, attuned and perfected, Higher tiers are created using previous tiers and cost more resources.
