Basics
The Ironman game mode is a self-sufficient, solo challenge catered to the more experienced crowd on Zeah. This game mode is restricted in the following facets of gameplay: Unable to trade other players, access the grand exchange, access the custom shops at home, loot players, or lootshare with non-ironmen.
Experience Rates and Loadout
- Combat: 125x
- Skilling: 50x
- Luck Rate: +5%
The Ironman beginning loadout is incredibly limited including some basic supplies and gear. It is up to you, the player, to obtain the supplies, gear and skills necessary to achieve your goals climb the highscores.
Getting Started
Beginning an Ironman may be intimidating due to not knowing where to begin. This section will provide tips and tricks on early game progression and resource collection as a general map to follow when beginning your Ironman adventure.
Money Making
Making money is very important due to the variety of shops Ironmen can access outside of the custom home shops. Ranging from early game gear, food, runes, and other useful tools it is important to have the funds required to purchase these items.
- Thieving
- Slayer
- Alchables: Casting the High Alchemy spell on most items will convert that item into an amount of coins. Notable alchables received from slayer include: Armor pieces, weapons, jewelry and more.
- Slayer Points: Completing slayer tasks rewards slayer points. Achieving certain task milestones, such as 10 tasks in a row, reward bonus points on top of that. These slayer points can then be used to purchase a variety of items in the slayer rewards shop. Whether you use the items you worked hard for or sell them to players for GP is completely up to you.
- PVM / Bossing: Slayer is the quickest path to follow towards end game PVM. Whether your plan is to go straight towards level restricted content such as Cerberus (91 Slayer) or Alchemical Hydra (95 Slayer), or to just train combat efficiently for other challenges, slayer is a one-way street towards any goal on the PVM spectrum.
- Hunter
Using the fishing stalls east of home, different tiers of fish can be stolen and sold to Dodgy Derek for XP and a profit. Stalls include:
Thieving Stalls
XP Per | GP Per | ||
---|---|---|---|
Perfect Trout | 698 | 2,000 | |
Perfect Swordfish | 1185 | 3,000 | |
Perfect Monkfish | 1863 | 4,000 | |
Perfect Shark | 3810 | 7,500 | |
Perfect Anglerfish | 6773 | 10,000 |
Slayer is arguably the most important skill an Ironman can train. Progressing this skill will result in the passive accumulation of combat XP, resources, better gear and Money. The following are the main reasons why slayer is such a good form of money making:
For Ironmen, Hunter is a beneficial skill for one primary reason: Implings. Implings offer a plethora of obtainable loot that will fill your pockets in no time. Catching the 4 main implings: Ninja, Dragon, Crystal, and Kingly (Click the name to view drop tables) will almost always result in either instant profit or have a practical use in the future of your account.
Supply Gathering
Due to the inability to trade other players, resources such as food, skilling supplies, and more are important to gather out early on to better prepare you for future endeavors. The following resources are especially difficult to obtain as an Ironman, followed by some tips on effective methods to stock up on these items:
- Herblore Ingredients: Important for the creation of Overloads, Saradomin Brews, Super Restores, and more.
- Summoning Secondaries: Crucial to the advancement of the Summoning skill, which further results in the ability to summon familiars to store items, damage enemies, and more.
- Food: A must have for any player planning on reaching endgame content.
Herblore Ingredients
The first step to herblore is obtaining the herbs necessary to make potions. The most efficient way to do so is to obtain them through farming. Farming requires herb seeds to plant in order to eventually harvest the herbs. After getting 38 thieving from the stalls at home, use the teleport nexus and teleport to the Draynor Market and pickpocket the Master Farmer. At least 38 Agility is recommended as well for a chance to receive double loot from one pickpocket.
