Hunter is a skill in which players catch different animals and creatures in Zeah. Although Hunter is a non-combat skill, players can still be damaged while hunting. Using hunting equipment bought from hunter stores, players can hunt specific creatures obtaining rewards such as spotted kebbit fur for spotted cape, chinchompas, black salamanders, and the fabled dragon and kingly implings.

General information and tips

Levelling up Hunter allows players to lay more traps at once. Training Hunter within the Wilderness allows players to deploy an extra trap.

Hunter Level Concurrent traps Wilderness
1 1 2
20 2 3
40 3 4
60 4 5
80 5 6

Required items

  • Bird snares if opting to catch birds for levels 1-29.
  • Box trap for chinchompas, starting at level 53.

Recommended training methods

Using a Hunter potion just before level 20, 40, 60 and 80 boosts the player over those levels. This allows the player to set an extra trap, increasing experience rates.

Levels 43–69: Falconry=

Catching spotted kebbits (and dark kebbits at level 57) using the falconry technique offers the fastest experience from level 43 to 53. They are located in the Piscatoris falconry area. While this provides higher experience rates than catching lizards, it is also more click-intensive.

Enter the Piscatoris falconry area, and rent a gyr falcon for 500 coins. In order to use a falcon to hunt, the weapon, shield, and hands slots need to be empty. Head to the south-eastern area and click on the kebbits to send the falcon towards the kebbit. When the falcon catches the kebbit, retrieve the falcon and the loot, and drop the loot afterwards. Try to minimise the travel distance of the falcon and your own walking distance by standing as close to the kebbits and their spawns as possible.

In order to reduce waiting time and speed up the process, it is recommended to run closer to the kebbit before using your falcon. If you fail the falcon flies back slowly, so reducing the distance will reduce your wait time.

Levels 69/80–99: Carnivorous chinchompas

Hunting carnivorous chinchompas offers relatively fast Hunter experience for players who do not wish to hunt black chinchompas in the Wilderness from 73 to 77. The Gwenith Hunter area is the best location to hunt carnivorous chinchompas, but the red chinchompa hunting ground is also viable
